Since receiving our 501(c)(3) designation in September 2017, SFDP has represented thousands of immigrants in a wide variety of immigration-related matters.

With a 99% success rate on completed cases, we continue to fight for justice, protection, and dignity for immigrant communities in New Mexico and West Texas.


Cumulative Legal Impact (2014–Present):

  • 5,437 total legal cases opened representing individuals and families

  • 2,980 DACA and advance parole applications

  • 321 applications for naturalization and citizenship

  • 449 family-based immigration cases, including removal of conditions for spouses of U.S. citizens

  • 293 humanitarian protections filed, including VAWA, U Visas, and T Visas

  • 179 Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) cases

  • 525 asylum-related matters, including direct representation, appeals, bond/parole requests, and Title 42 advocacy

  • Hundreds of general consultations and services (green card renewals, work permits, address changes, etc.)


II. Current Services & Community Reach (2024):

  • 1,150+ active clients currently represented, with many cases lasting 5–15 years due to federal backlogs

  • 63 new humanitarian cases opened in 2024 (asylum, U Visas, VAWA)

  • 240+ humanitarian consultations annually

  • Digital reach: 5,200+ social media followers and 2,000+ newsletter subscribers keep communities informed and engaged

98% Hispanic/Latinx client base: primarily low-income, Spanish-speaking immigrants from Latin America, many of whom are undocumented, LGBTQ+, and survivors of violence.

8+ rural legal clinics held annually in areas such as Taos and Valencia Counties.

26+ years of combined legal experience on staff, including attorneys and DOJ-accredited representatives.
