From Santa Fe Dreamers Project to Contigo Immigrant Justice

A New Name, the Same Unwavering Commitment to Immigrant Communities

For over a decade, the Santa Fe Dreamers Project has stood firmly alongside immigrant communities across New Mexico, guided by a singular belief: that dignity, safety, and freedom are rights belonging to all people—regardless of immigration status.

What began in 2014 as one attorney providing free DACA services to Dreamers in Santa Fe has grown into a statewide leader in immigrant legal advocacy, with a 99% success rate in completed cases and more than 1,150 active clients.

Today, we are proud to announce our new name:

Contigo Immigrant Justice.

Why Contigo?

“Contigo” means with you—and that’s how we do this work: together. This transition marks a powerful evolution in our identity—one that more fully reflects our values, our statewide impact, and the communities we serve. While our name is changing, our mission remains the same: to fight for the dignity, safety, and freedom of immigrant families throughout New Mexico and beyond.

Our new name also recognizes that we have outgrown the borders implied by “Santa Fe.” Our work now spans rural counties, detention centers, courtrooms, and communities across the state. And “Dreamers” no longer fully captures the breadth of those we serve—mothers, students, elders, transgender asylum seekers, farmworkers, and children.

Why the Hummingbird?

The hummingbird symbolizes resilience, hope, and migration. Small but powerful, it travels great distances to reach safety and sustenance. For Contigo Immigrant Justice, it reflects the courage of the communities we serve and our own commitment to move with purpose, adapt to challenges, and fight for a future where every person is safe, valued, and free. Our hummingbird is a promise to remain with you, Contigo, until immigrant justice is achieved.

Our Expanded Vision

This next chapter also brings an expanded mission. We are honored to inherit and grow the Fronterizx Fianza Fund—New Mexico’s only dedicated immigration-specific bail fund. For years, this volunteer-led effort has paid immigration bonds to free people from unjust detention. Now, as part of Contigo, the fund is integrated into a permanent legal services organization—combining community bond support with direct legal representation to ensure no one is detained simply because they cannot afford to pay.

Our Name is New, but Our Mission is Not

For years, Santa Fe Dreamers Project has fought beside immigrant communities staying true to our values- always client-centered, always in collaboration, always “with you.” Contigo Immigrant Justice is a bold declaration of what we have always promised: to be with you until justice is won.

When you give, you are fueling liberation: protecting rights, reuniting families, and creating change that lasts.

Stand with us in this new chapter. Join us for our Annual Gala on Wednesday, November 13 at the Eldorado Hotel in Santa Fe. Together, we will celebrate victories, honor our communities, and build momentum for the fights ahead. Contigo!
